Tangled: Stage For All

Tangled: Stage For All – Art, music, community storytelling, and dance were woven together in a site-specific event that celebrated the entanglement between urban life and nature. The durational performance and visual installation were centered around building a 32-foot circular stage from partly recycled materials. The stage will stay in Southwest Detroit and is envisioned as a public space to celebrate and honor the culture, talent, and creativity of the community and is open for everybody to use.

This project was made possible by University of Michigan MCubed grant received by Paul Draus (Sociology, UM-Dearborn), Holly Hughes (Interarts, School of Art and Design) and Tzveta Kassabova (Theatre, SMTD) , and was developed in partnership with Bridging Communities and Motor City Street Dance Academy. The event was part of Detroit Month of Design 2020.
