I Pledge Allegiance to my own Ignorance
FROM THE AUTHOR:
In my poem I recount some of the stereotypes my parents experienced upon coming to America from Bangladesh. While unpacking this misguided content, I emphasize how strangers are not the only ones to have made these harmful racial assumptions. Please join me in exploring my own biases, my own ignorance, and my own fallacies. It is from reflections like these that I intend to begin righting my own wrongs and challenging my own thinking, contributing to my strides towards building a more equal world.
